Scaling the data team and platform at Ada Health
Grew the data department from a 6-person team to four teams and 25+ people in two years, while building B2B data products for global pharma and insurers.
The challenge
Ada Health was scaling fast. Its data team needed to support better internal decisions and, at the same time, serve demanding enterprise partners in pharma and insurance. The existing six-person team could not carry both.
What I did
I led and expanded the data department, growing it into four cross-functional teams: platform, BI and analytics, and two data-product teams. I hired and trained engineers, analysts, and data scientists, modernized the platform on GCP, and put governance and self-service analytics in place. In parallel, I built data products for enterprise partners and ran the change management to make a data-driven culture stick.
Outcomes
- Grew the data department from 6 people to four teams and 25+ people in two years.
- Delivered B2B data products for Novartis, Bayer, Takeda, Kaiser Permanente, and Prudential.
- Gave internal teams real-time analytics and self-service BI.
- Established data governance and a culture that outlasted my engagement.
